Ms. Schmit Absent Mon-Tuesday - instructions are below for class work
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports are this week. Here are the reminders:
- Turn in missing work by the end of the day Tuesday if you want it to be updated in time for the reports.
- If assignments are locked in canvas it's too late to turn in.
- All Rehearse and Perform assignments affect your grade the most and will stay open until 1/19 but don't wait till then to complete them!
- Assignment scores should match between Canvas and PowerSchool BUT "Overall Grade" is calculated correctly in PowerSchool only.

Class Work

A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning- Shape and Form Unit

Reminder- tile project needed to be complete before break
Monday: 2nd Gallery Project -scroll down for more info
Wednesday: Form Booklet due by end of class- Notes and Booklet Link look for Level 3 button to find the notes and a copy of the booklet (jus re-create it best you can on your own paper)
Friday: Intro Bas Relief Tile mural Project (info linked in Shape/Form Unit)

A3 Sculpture IPA- Paper Project 2 Planning

Wednesday: I'm still out today. Below are several options for exploring artists' work and what drives their ideas behind their work. I'm expecting you to spend the entire class time exploring them and document your journey. The more you document the more likely your score will be higher ;-) make it meaningful for yourself!
- Watch MC Escher documentary
- Pick any of the documentaries from this article watch it and dig deeper any of the artists' listed in the article.
- Metal/Wire artist article and dig deeper into any of the artists' listed in this article.

B1 Metals/Fibers IPA- Fiber Arts Coaster Experiment Unit

Tuesday: Mis Schmit is Absent so work on Research section of the Coaster Unit for now- remember the goal is to understand and explore the history of fiber arts, how artists use this media to explore social/political/economic problems. Objective for doing this research is to get an idea of how you would like to approach some of these ideas with your Big Fiber Arts Project.
Thursday: Continue Coaster Experiment Unit. Due by end of next week. Be on the lookout for a template to submit this assignment then as well.

B2 8th Grade Art- Value Unit , Face Unit

Note: Shattered Value project- will continue working on it when Ms. S is back for now focus on the stuff below...
Tuesday: Face Unit- READ EVERYTHING HERE AND IN THE SLIDES! Start with slide 1 and start working your way through each slide. Should get complete through slide 4 by end of class today.
Thursday: Ms. S will likely be back- we'll wrap up the Shattered Value Project and get it turned in by the end of class.

B4 Ceramics IPA- IPA 3D Tile Project

Tuesday: Ms. S will be out so work your way through each slide on the IPA 3D Tile Unit Slides- try to get through slide 3 by end of class.
Thursday: Ms. S will likely still be out so continue and complete slide 4 by end of class. Remember- expecting your booklets to look more like an art project than just "notes", if you end up completing everything go back and work on the designs on your booklet more (refine and add more details and designs to show off your personality with them more) Be ready to start your practice tile next class Ms. S should be back by then)

Classwork for Today . . .

Ms. Schmit is out today. READ EVERYTHING FIRST! Here is what to work on today (all classes)

Work on your 2nd Gallery Project turn in whatever you have done so far on the daily work assignment for today. Remember to follow ALL directions on the worksheet AND must pick a different work of art from a different gallery this time around. Looking for evidence of utilizing ALL of class time- use it wisely!
- Remember this is NOT a report, it IS an opinion and time based project- if you're done before the end of class then you did something wrong!
- For Part 2- I'm just looking for how you are utilizing the information from the worksheet in a more formally written format, so If you want to have more fun with this project turn it into a creative writing assignment.
- If you have me for more than one class: must complete a different one for each class.
- Also recommend picking a work that uses similar media or processes to what we are working with in class.

Congrats! you made it to the end- if you did here's what to do for some extra credit: don't tell anyone else, email/message me what specific projects you would like to do by the end of the school year, write "Extra Credit" and what class(es) you have me for in the subject of the message ;-)

Ms. Schmit is out today. Here are the options for classes:

If you are able to be in class: keep working on current project- scroll down to find out what needs to be completed before Fall Break
If you are dispersed or go to another classroom instead: complete your 2nd Gallery Project. Remember to follow ALL directions on the worksheet AND must pick a different work of art from a different gallery this time around. Looking for evidence of utilizing ALL of class time- use it wisely!

Either way: turnin images/pdf's of whatever you get done by the end of class.

General Announcements

Student Art Show is up and running from now through December 12th- Closing Reception will be that night from 5:15-6:15 with the Piano Recital to finish out the night.

Class Work

A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning- Shape and Form Unit

Turn in Coil Project 2 on Canvas and put in kiln room but keep it wrapped
Tuesday Complete Planning for Shape Project PLANNING- and start Project (Keep simple- should be completed before Fall Break)
Thursday: All Blocking out of 3D Tile Project done and assembled
Monday: Refining and adding details (basic finishing)- due by end of class

A3 Sculpture IPA- Paper Project 2 Planning

Tuesday and Thursday: Book Nook Project work days (extended to work days 10 days)
Tuesday: Project Critique

B1 Metals/Fibers IPA- Fiber Arts Coaster Experiment Unit

Goal Complete 2 coasters by the end of the before Fall Break (keep checking here for updates on this unit- will probably modify some requirements to make sure we get through the unit and big project by the end of the quarter/semester)

B2 8th Grade Art- Value Unit

Wednesday finish and submit all 3 value pages, start on Shattered Value Project.

General Anouncments

Q1 Report Cards- passed out in Homeroom - last 15 minutes of 1st block.
No school Tuesday(Teacher Work Day and Voting) or Friday (Veterans' day Holiday)
Student Art Show is Up and Running overall - Ceramics people will have their stuff up by end of the week. We'll have a closing reception December 12th so keep an eye out for more information when we get closer to it.

Self Critique of Big Book Project- use the Critique Cheat Sheet to help organize your writing/thoughts. Looking for evidence of 20 full minutes of writing. Use complete sentences, paragraph format, and proper grammar and punctuation. (hint: each section in the "Questions to Challenge your thinking" section of the cheat sheet can be a paragraph)

B2 8th Grade Art- Value Unit

Wednesday: Start Value Packet Page 3. We'll finish it next class. Be on the look-out for a template to submit all 3 pages for the canvas assignment.
