Announcments

  • Student Art Show Opening: Tuesday 3/26 6:30-8:30 in the Auditorium Gallery.
  • End of Quarter is Thursday- Last Friday was the last day for late/regrade work.
  • Grading will be updated in Canvas Monday and Tuesday. If scores are not matching between Canvas and PowerSchool by Wednesday, let Ms. Schmit know which scores specifically and for which class/section ;-)
  • Friday No School for Students and next week is spring break! See you on April 8th!

  • Thursday:  Finish Chain Project
B1 AP Art History- Reminder 219-220 due this week.
  • Monday: Continue Unit 9-10; Unit 10 lecture part 1

B2 8th Grade Art- Repousse Unit
  • Monday: Start Planning for Main Repousse Project
  • Wednesday: Finish Planning for Main Repousse Project - we'll start working with the metal when we get back from break.

Work time for todya

  1. Everyone needs to stay in assigned seats today.
  2. Everyone must submit an image of whatever you worked on today the last 10 minutes of class. Otherwise you'll receive a "0" and will need to make it up by coming in during Homeroom.
  3. Remember if you choose to make up work for my class instead of working on your project...
    1. Submit an image/description of what you accomplished
    2. You will need to make up missed sculpting time during Homeroom. (no extra days will be added)
  4. If you need links to anything scroll down to last weeks info. Everything you need is there.

  • Credit Recovery
    • If you have more than 10 absences for any class you will need to make up missing seat time
    • More than 10 absences result in an "FF", even if you have a passing grade that means you have to make up the seat time otherwise you will automatically fail the course - it's a state rule, not mine:-(
    • If you need to make up time see me for options.
  • Student Art Show
    • Entries due Friday March 15th
    • Everyone is required to submit at least 1 piece made during my class but may submit up to 3.
    • Show Opening March 26th 6:30-8:30 in the Auditorium Gallery

A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning  Pinch Pot Unit (Alternative measuring techniques, fractions, and hand-building)
  • Tuesday: Glazing Artwork for Art Show, Submit Pinch Pot Unit Planning, Start Main Pinch Pot Project and start Planning for Sea Life Project (make a copy of the document to be able to edit it)
  • Thursday: Complete anything unfinished from Tuesday's list
A3 Sculpture IPA
  • Tuesday: Finalize Shout! letters Unit (math and Cardboard Sculpture)
    • Wrap letters in Masking tape to seal surface
  • Thursday:  Fiber Arts Final Critique and Upload image of Project
B1 AP Art History- Reminder Cards 181-190 due this week.
  • Monday: Continue Unit Asia Art History 7-8; Finish last of Japan Videos
  • Wednesday: Unit 7-8 review
  • Thursday: Unit 7-8 Exam ( 2 Short FRQ's 1 FRQ Long form-just an outline! and ~40 MCQ's- 10 of which will be from previous units)
B2 8th Grade Art- Repousse Unit
  • Monday: Finish Critiques and submit Hand Lettering Project (recomend submitting this for the student art show ;-) Critique Hand lettering Project
  • Wednesday: Intro to Repousse and start practice project
  • Friday: Complete Practice Repousse Project (could also submit this for the Student art show if it's done ;-) 
B4 Ceramics IPA   Pinch Pot Unit 
  • Monday: Finish Nesting Bowls and Glazing
  • Wednesday: Glazing, prioritize work you want to submit to the Student Art Show.
  • Friday: Intro Main Pinch Pot Project and start Planning

Announcements

  • No School for Students Tuesday March 5th (for voting day)
    • APAH- need to complete Video Lectures For China/Korea to stay on schedule for AP Exam even though we're not in class that day ;
  • Latino Night Art Showcase Contest entries due 4/1 (click on link for more info)
  • NWSA Student Art Show Coming up
    • Artwork due to teacher by March 15th.
    • Show opening will be Mar 26th 6:30-8:30 in the Auditorium Gallery. 

Classwork 

A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning  Pinch Pot Unit (Alternative measuring techniques, fractions, and hand-building)
  • Monday: Improve Pinch Pot Precision- Make a set of pinch-pot nesting bowls using Calipers and rulers to measure diameters. Specifics on slide #6 in the unit link. 
  • Wednesday: Complete Pinch Pot Practice #2 (have bowls stack inside of each other and in the kiln room by end of class (names on the bottom of all of them!)
  • Friday: Complete Cup Critique, any time left over can be used to glaze work.
A3 Sculpture IPA
  • Tuesday-Thursday: Shout! letters Unit (math and Cardboard Sculpture)
    • Have Cardboard assembled for all letters by end of class today!
    • Next class we'll spackle and sand, class after that we'll prime them
B1 AP Art History- Reminder Cards 181-190 due this week.
  • Tuesday-Thursday: Continue Unit Asia Art History 7-8; Video's 6-7 are due this week - Reminder Next Tuesday is now a "no school for students day" however to stay on track need to complete Lecture video #6 as homework.
