How to approach all the content below:
  1.  Limit yourself to 1-2 video's per day  otherwise it will get overwhelming. Lasting change takes time and persistence. The more focused and intentional you are with that time will end up with better long term results.
  2. Invest a few minutes into self reflection. Writing it down will make it stick better and you'll be more likely to make positive changes happen.
  3. Rinse and Repeat as needed. Many of these videos have so much packed into a short amount of time it's easy to miss things or might take on a different meaning for you at another time.

Dealing with Procrastination

1. Understanding the mind of a procrastinator
2. One trick to reduce procrastination
3. Another trick to deal with procrastination
4. Developing a healthy relationship with procrastination

A Note About Motivation

How I trick the Brain to be Motivated
1. Decide you have to do it
2. Do whatever I can to make my brain think I'm going to Work/School;
  • Wake up early (~1hr)
  • Commute - distinctly go from home mode to work mode.
  • Set up a schedule
  • Set alarms to keep schedule - I have the full bell schedule entered in my phone. Alarms go off 10 min before class and I snooze them so they'll go off again when class starts.
  • Take purposeful breaks- I ONLY eat lunch during lunch. You'll do better work if you do!

Setting Routines and Schedules

1. Why routines are important
2. Where to start with planning
3. How hold yourself accountable
4. How to change habits
Another way to go about planning as a HS student

What things do "successful" people do?

Getting Unstuck

  • Day 1: Create a Plan
    • #1 Be honest with yourself about your idiosyncrasies BUT be proactive about dealing with it.
      • Example: if you know you don't do a daily planner after trying it, maybe try doing a "6 most important list" instead. Make a commitment that everything on that list needs to be completed that day.
    • #2 What is making you "stuck"
      • What obstacles are getting in the way?
      • How can you deal/prevent obstacles?
    • #3 Set-up routines and schedule
      • Waking up
      • Going to bed
      • Identifying Rocks, gravel, and sand
      • Plan your time monthly, weekly, daily
    • #4 Recruit Allies (accountability partners)

"Cleanse Week"

  • Monday: Taking a break from Technology.
    • The video goes into the why- at least the bigger reasons behind it.
    • We'll all do our 10 minutes on our goals (we'll check in on them tomorrow)- try doing it without involving a screen!
