End of Year Testing Schedule
  • M 101 will be the “main” AP mobile room so that’s where students report each morning to be assigned to their test location in the mobiles.
  • Last day for regular bell schedule 5/20 (A Days) and 5/23 (B Days)
    • All art work should be taken home by the of those days!
    • Any art work left on campus after 6/7 will be thrown away
  • Last day for late/regrade work May 27th!
  • Last day for Greenware (Ceramics) 5/5 - if it's not on in the kiln room by end of that day.
  • Last day for Glazing (Ceramics) 5/12- if not on shelf by end of the day, it won't get fired!

AP Art History APSI

Elizabeth Schmit's Activity Intro to Unit 6 Activity (Featuring Required work 171)
Setting Up: Open a google doc of your choice to document your responses. Just note there is a group component to this assignment. Your group can decide to fill out one document or each fill out your own but everyone is expected to collaborate and participate.

Notes:
  • For students I would have them submit a pdf (that way they can't edit it after it's submitted) of their document for their "Daily Work" Canvas assignment along with images of any other work we do during class for that day.
  • For Assessment, I just give them a completion grade based on what they summited- if they score really low I'll give them specific feedback on canvas. I generally monitor their interactions with each other in class or virtually using Zoom and DyKnow.com (school Chromebook screen monitoring software). As long as they're working and

  • Friday May 5th is Ceramics last day for Greenware if you want it fired.

Advanced Sections
  • Check to make sure you have all work in - remember if canvas will still let you submit work you can still do it. No points are taken off for late work, just get them in!

A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning
  • Last day in class to work on mask: Wednesday May 4th!
  • Critique will be Friday May 6th- have project ready to put on kiln shelf after critique!
A2 AP Art History
  • AP Exam Fri. May 6, 2022 11:30 – 4:30pm; have a ride lined up for afterschool incase full exam time is needed. Otherwise you might not make it out intime to catch your bus. Only need to show up for exam time, but don't be late!
  • Monday: Review exam layout and go over tips and tricks to being more successful
  • Wednesday: Writing workshop for long and short form Essay questions.
A3 Sculpture IPA
  • Work on Wire Project- last workday in class (Tuesday May 10th, critique will be on May 12th so plan accordingly)
B1 Metals/Fibers IPA
  • Work on Wire Project- last workday in class (May 11th, critique will be on May 12th so plan accordingly)
B2 8th Grade Art
  • Repousse Unit- Planning Practice due by end clas Tuesday
  • Project Planning due by end of class Thursday
  • Keep in mind: You'll have 3 classes total to complete Repousse Project and critique will be May 17th

End of year will come up fast! start planning now!- only 5 weeks till exams start.
  • Yes! we have exams! They will be true/false, multiple choice. We'll start reviewing in the next couple of weeks.
  • Most classes- plan on your last project being due about the end of next week.

  • Apply what you learned from Creative Process assignment to next project- it can be part of your series or something new. In any case it will be Project 7.
  • Project 7 PLANNING due by end of week- feel free to start Project 7 when you're ready, but keep in mind I'm looking for authentic effort into planning - the more you document it the better ;-)
    • Looking for evidence of: Brainstorming, Research, Planning sketches, source image collection, documentation of process, sources citations (doesn't need to be formal- can be as simple as links copied and pasted). Can be done in any order! Make it work best for you and your creative process!

A2 AP Art History
Sorry guys My bad about last Friday, I got contused; here is what really is going on for class work this week and Next week.
  • AP Reviews- happen every night via YouTube- they will go over everything you need to know for the exam!
  • Unit 9 Cards- should have been completed over the break (only 11)
  • Complete Unit 10 Cards asap- just focus on Identification information for now; Due Wednesday May 4th- will still take them for full credit after the AP Exam but you'll want them to help study.
  • This week: Watch/listen to all Unit 10 Lectures.
  • Next week: we'll go over some tips and tricks for Free Response Questions Monday and Wednesday. AP Exam is FRIDAY MAY 
A3 Sculpture IPA

Advanced Sections
  • Continue working on Series and make sure you have all assignments in on Canvas- remember, no points are taken off for stuff being late but if something is locked, it's too late to turn it in.
  • This week and next week incorporate workthing the activities in the Creative Process Unit, if you want to be included in the Neil Gaiman lectures, you'll need to come get a note from me. Some of the activates you could be working on other things while listening to videos etc.

  • Wednesday: Creative Process Unit - if you're going to be out for the field trip, you'll need to make up everything up through Slide 3 done- read the directions so you don't do more than you need to!

Advanced Sections
  • Check Canvas for assignments. Project 6 and the Artist Statement revisions are due by the end of the week- be sure to read the directions and expectations for them. If you have questions ask them early in the week- message Ms Schmit or Mr. Raed so we can help you before the due date.
A1/A2 Ceramics Beginning
  • Make sure you Mask Planning is tuned it to the Canvas Rehearse assignment, it was due last week.
  • Free Project 2- create project(s) of your choice, need to show evidence of using all of class time for the week (3hrs). Projects should be on the shelves in the kiln room by the end of class Friday.
A2 AP Art History
  • Monday: Unit 8: Lecture 1, Lecture 2, Required Works
  • Wednesday Review Unit 6,7, and 8
  • Friday: Exam Unit 6,7, and 8
  • Spring Break Homework:
    • Find all your Unit cards you've made and get them in one place.
    • Make Unit 9 cards, there are only 11 and these are the last cards you'll need to make and will wrap up everything so we can start reviewing when we come back from break.
    • I'll create Unit 10 "Cheat Sheet" stuff for you over the break.
  • After Spring Break: we have 2 weeks of review, and time for 1 practice Exam before the Big Test Day: MAY 6th

  • Note about next week: I for some reason got it in my head that we had 2 weeks until spring break. That way we'll be ready to start building masks with new clay when we get back from break

General Announcements

Fix Your Grade Day
  • All classes will do this Monday/Tuesday this week
  • If you're grade is Fixed before the end of class, work on this till the end of class:
Last Day for Late/Regrade work: Tuesday March 22 before midnight!
  • Once documents lock- they're locked and stay locked. No late work will be taken after that date/time, no exceptions. 

Class Work 

SEL: Students can complete the survey independently or during a live virtual and/or in-person session. 
  • All students will go to: surveys.panoramaed.com/cms
  • ​Students will enter their access code. Their access code is their Student ID. Students will then see the surveys they need to take.
  • Students need to hit the blue “Submit” button to enter their survey. If they do not hit this, their responses will not be saved.
  • ELL Students: The online survey will be available in 10 languages. 
  • Burmese, English, French, Nepali, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese
  • ​Students with IEPs: Where possible, accommodations should be made to support all students. You can find some suggestions for ensuring accessibility here, including a video with instructions for enabling text-to-speech. 
  • It’s okay to read the survey questions aloud! 
  • ​Students should answer survey questions independently without prompting or influence. 
  • Teachers can explain vocabulary. If a student does not understand a question, they should skip it.
7th Grade Art
  • Movement Assignment
    • Movement Slides: Take 10 minutes and create a thumbnail sketch of each image. Goal is to try and capture the movement you see in them.
    • Google "Principle of Design Movement" and spend 10 minutes taking notes on what it is and how to create it.
    • The rest of class create a more careful drawing that demonstrates movement.

  • Reminder: you should be keeping all your projects so they can be displayed during the Advanced/Senior Art Show coming up during May.
