Class Work

All Classes will be working on the same project that will be due at the end of this week. There are 3 purposes behind this project:
  1. Get to know a little about each other
  2. Get an idea of your current art making and creative thinking skills
  3. Get familiar with the basics of how assignments work for this class.
For those of you who have done this before, take what you've learned since then and really dig deep into the creative aspects of this assignment. I'm still expecting a prototype but it's ok to not invest as much time as you did last time. As long as you incorporate the things on the checklist in the Unit link below you are free to go crazy. Just keep in mind the time limit!
Note: this is they only unit Ms. Schmit will physically collect, afterwards we'll start using canvas to submit all assignments ;-)
Monday (A Day)/ Tuesday (B/Day)
  • Introductions, Syllabus, Digital Syllabus Signing Form
  • Who I Am Unit- Videos, Rubric, and Start Prototype
Wednesday (A Day)/ Thursday (B Day)
  • Start Who I Am Project (Final Version)
Friday (A Day)/ Tuesday (B Day)
  • Who I Am Project Due by end of class- even if incomplete!

Policy Update
1. Where are grades posted? Canvas will show the most current grades/scores but should sync with PowerSchool nightly- assuming there aren't any glitches. CreativeSchmit.com is where day-to-day class content is presented to students (it’s also linked into Canvas) but is a great way for parents to see what we’re doing as well.

2. What supplies does my student need for your class?
  • A sketchbook - I recommend Cansons 9x12in Multimedia spiral bound- its good quality for a reasonable price; but if they have something else they prefer that's fine too.
  • #2 pencil and pen for writing and/or drawing
  • Beyond those things, they are welcome to bring other supplies but will also have access to everything they need in class.
  • Note for Sculpture Metal/Fiber Arts- may want to purchase their own supplies for some projects but will give plenty of forewarning and guidance about that as we go.

3. Is there a class Fee? Yes, it's $20/Visual Arts Class and can be paid by clicking HERE - this fee helps cover any additional supplies, field trip fees and other things the school doesn't provide. If you will have trouble paying the fee, just email me. We can set up a payment plan or can provide a scholarship if needed as well.
