Sculpture Art

If you come across any words you don't understand, just google "art + (the word)" to help you find definitions that fit better with the context below.

Basic Visual Language to know and apply:
Form, Shape, Mass, Volume, In-the-round, Texture

You only need to do one of these . . .

A sculpture would be a work that has been carved, molded, constructed or shaped into a 3 dimensional art
piece. You can use any material that you choose like paper, clay, wood, plastic, metal, recycled items, etc...
If you are having trouble trying to think of something to make use the images and videos below for some inspiration or do some exploring on your own. Below is just an example of one way to make a Sculpture.

Paper Sculpting

1.  Explore and Practice Basics
  • Watch the videos below and take notes so you don't have to go back and rewatch them as much
  • Google Image search 3D Paper Sculpture and see what you find, maybe get some ideas for what you want your project to be like or about. Take notes and copy/paste any inspiration images to a google doc to save for later.

2. Prepare and Practice for your main project
Now you have some inspiration to work from you might want to do try drawing out what you want your project to look like from at least a side and front view.
3. Create a final (best) piece.
  • Pick your best practice drawing and make it bigger!
  • Spend at least 1 hour on it, more is better- it shows you are really looking at details and taking the time to capture details.
  • Adding color is a bonus- and add if you spent at least 1 hour just making the design. That's what we're really evaluating.
4. Add images of everything to the your template.
  • Images of steps 1-2 and any "mess-ups" from step 3 should go in Green area.
  • In Blue area you need at least 2-3 image of final project from step 3 so we can get an idea of what it looks like "In-the-Round". Like at the example below...
