General Announcements

  • Last Day for Late/Regrade work: Wed. Jan 19th
  • All classes will have a Midterm next week
    • all multiple choice questions
    • Covers Elements of Art, Principles of Design, and Art making processes covered so far- most classwork is relating to this to help start reviewing for it!
  •  I'll be out at least Monday-  so be sure to READ/LISTEN to ALL instructions I left for your section. If you have questions email me but don't wait for me to respond- be proactive and move on as best you can.

Class work this week

ALL Advanced Visual Art Sections:
  • If you need to see dates or portfolio requirements click HERE.
  •  Artist Website Portfolio instructions.
  • 4th Project due: This Friday Jan 14th. Also need your Artist Website Portfolio assignment in asap if not already.
  • Midterm Exam: will be an Essay about your portfolio journey so far. Instructions will be posted here before Friday so you can start working on it before Exam day. 
 B117: Visual Art Beginning, B-117 B2, B3, (2D MMA IP, Printmaking IP)
  • Go to your Google Classroom for class content and scores for class work- Ignore Canvas.
  • PowerSchool will be updated with your Overall Grade about every other week.
8th Grade Art
  • Principles of Design Booklet Unit- get as far as you can by the end of the week.
    • Take time to ready EVERYTHING before starting booklet
    • Expecting 4-6 pages completed each class; if you don't: you're either working too fast or overthinking things if you're getting behind.
    • The idea is you're APPLYING what you learn from the notes to the booklet activates.
    • Just recreate the booklets on your own- they don't need to be printed out
    • Take your time (craftsmanship counts, including with handwriting) and be creative with the overall design of yours! They are designed to be more than just worksheets.
Ceramics Beginning- (1A and 2A)
  • Elements of Art Booklet Unit- this is is info that will be on your Midterm

  • Note about Chess Piece Unit: we will start it officially after Midterms. Long Story Short: clay will be here, we need to prep for midterm, and I need time to get ready for it too. Totally fine to start planning out your ideas for your them ahead of time.

    • Continue to make progress on Big Fiber Arts Project.

 Sculpture IPA

    • Monday: Complete to summarize the Lecture Outline
    • Wed. and Fri.: Applying Lecture Info to Required Works
      • Slides will be added/updated in the Unit 3 Presentation for you to take notes from.
  • Heads up about Next week
    • Wed: Review for midterm
      • Multiple Choice: mostly be Unit 3 Content, and the reset from Units 1-2
      • Short answer and Essay portions will be from Unit 3 only
    • Friday: Take Midterm
