If this is NOT your first time making this project for MY CLASS . . .Yes, you need to make one- your skills have improved since the last time you did this; however, here are some options to make it a little more engaging for yourself. Just make sure you are meeting all the requirements.
What if you have more than one class with me this year . . .Option 1: make 1 project BUT utilize all the time given from both classes to invest in your project. Go all out with details and creativity. The more detailed one I made took over 30 hours to make, you can easily be able to invest 3-4 hours for a single project instead of just 1.5-2.
Option 2: Make one about yourself and 2nd one using some of the alternative ideas above for the second one. |

Instructions Watch Videos, the first shows a finished project just to give you an idea of where you will end up, and the other describes the process to get there. Yours doesn't need to look exactly like this but just make sure it does include the requirements listed below. See if you can find them in the video as you watch it!
Goal: Why we doing this
Goal: Why we doing this
- Get comfortable with format of the work for the class
- Demonstrate your current level of Keys to Success (Skills, Craftsmanship, Creativity, and Effort)
- Ms. Schmit uses this project as a starting point to evaluate your grown as we progress throughout the year.
- Creative title, First and last name, year
- Autobiographical information- Information about yourself you are comfortable sharing
- Self portrait- as photo realistic as you can manage
- Fill remaining space creatively, sharing who you really are with any combination of text and images.
- Have Fun! if you're not you're probably overthinking it!
Step 2: Making your Moquette
Making your Moquette. Time expectation: ~15-25 min! The goal is to practice layout and spacing for the various components for your project without investing too much time (working smarter, not harder!)
- NO DETAILED DRAWINGS YET, do write out all text though!
- Option 1: Print Worksheet/Example and fill it out
- Option 2: Use blank copy paper or lined paper using the Worksheet/Example PDF as a guide. Feel free to skip or add questions as you see fit to help meet the Objective and Requirements.
Step 3: Making your Project
Make Who I Am Project. Time expectation ~1.5-2 hours total, no more than 3 if you work on it more at home. It needs to meet same requrments as Moquette but this is your final draft and should look more polished overall. Use whatever supplies you have access to (bonus points for using creative materials).
Note about Evaluation: If you're really worried about your quality of your work- just know this is also a way for me to see where your skills are at as long as you are genuinely trying your best you won't lose any points.
Instructions for how to Submit your work will be on the "Who I Am" Canvas Assignment and will count as a Rehearse assignment.
