This is page is for you to reference throughout the year. If you are enrolled in multiple Advanced courses you need to be completing work following the requirements for all courses; However if you can find a way to AUTHENTICALLY meet those requirements in creative ways, that is fine. When in doubt feel free to check with Ms. Schmit or your Advanced Visual Arts Teacher to check first.

If you get overwhelmed. . .You are always welcome to fall back on what the Intermediate and Proficient students are doing if you get stuck, want to do those projects, or are just having a hard time wrapping your head around how all this is going to work.

Main Goal for this year
Basically create 7+ pieces of artwork relating to a common theme/idea
What that means is you will be developing your own series of pieces to showcase the skills and is a sustained investigation exploring a common theme or idea. You should be ending the year with creating a a series of 7 strong pieces minimum and will showcase them in the school art show at the end of the year (at least digitally, maybe in the gallery depending on in-person restrictions this year). The expectation is for you to be mainly working independently but you are welcome to ask for help and advice as needed. You will be expected to check in with your teacher regularly about your progress.
Media Requirements for ProjectsMedia choices need to center around the course you are enrolled in. One thing to keep in mind, unless you can purchase your own supplies you will need to check in with your Visual Arts Teacher for available supplies- don't stress to much about this for now keep reading up on requirements first.

A Sustained InvestigationThere are many ways you can progress throughout the year; however, in all cases it will help if you develop a strong idea that will serve as an anchor that connects all your pieces you make throughout the year. That idea is okay to modify or re-calibrate it as you go, just make sure you are documenting why you are making the changes.
Sustained Investigation Proposal needs to include:
