Academic and Behavior Expectations

1. Mutual Respect to everyone and everything in the room with words and actions. If it's not yours, don't touch it. Use kind words with each other and yourself.
2. Do YOUR Best! everything is based on individual growth. Keep in mind sometimes what your best might be different from day to day, and as long as you are showing that growth over time and really lean into challenges- that is the key to being successful in this class.
3. Show up, both mentally and physically! be ready with materials needed and an open mind ready to learn and challenge the way you think. Some days may be more challenging than others and that's ok- again, just do your best!
Note When anyone gets overwhelmed, behind, confused- say something! I'm happy to help you come up with a plan or an alternative way of tackling those challenges but can only do so if you tell me- I can't always see it.

Assignments & Grading

My goal is to update grades for all classes once a week. The reality is sometimes jugelling department chair requirements, department event planning, and other school requirements make that very challenging to meet that goal. If you are ever worried about grades feel free to email me anytime.
  • CreativeSchmit.com - where content is for ALL Ms. Schmit's Classes
  • Canvas - where all work is collected and evaluated
  • PowerSchool - where acurate "Overall Grade" is calculated; however cores for individual assignments should match between Canvas and PowerSchool.
Prepare 20 % Overall Grade
  • Evaluating how well are students completing daily task lists- general overall quality.
  • Daily Work Assignment tracks daily progress
  • Weekly Perform Assignments track average progress for the week, and is what actually syncs to PowerSchool
Rehearse 30% Overall Grade
  • Collecting and evaluating the content of all work done to prepare for a main project in a unit (Notes, practice projects, brainstorming, etct)

What Individual Scores Usually mean

Picture

Attendance
& Improving Scores

"Late" is just a word for my classes and doesn't affect scores. Everything can be improved until the assignments lock.
When Absent make up the tasks you missed and submit images of them before the Daily Work you missed locks.
  • Prepare Assignment lock the Friday after they were due.
  • Perform/Rehearse Assignments Lock 3 days before the last Friday before the end of each quarter

Tutoring and Seat-Time Makeup

If students need extra time, would like 1-on-1 help, or need to make up seat time for missing 10+ days of school here are times available during school. If these times can't work, then email Ms. Schmit to schedule a time.
  • Before School 6:45-7:10
  • During Homeroom/Enrichment - just need to see me before school starts to sign their planner to show their enrichment/homeroom teacher.
  • During Art or Photo Club meetings (for making up seat only) - These are only on Thursdays but not always every Thursday- need to email Ms. Schmit in advanced whether you are planning on being in-person or virtual.
